Been absent

I have not been on WordPress for a while because I have not been following a nutrition or juicing plan, and this was suppose to be a blog about juicing. I have been walking quite a bit. My hiking has stopped because it has been storming here quite a bit and the trails have been flooding.

I have been working on getting my financial aid from Suffolk. I still have not heard anything! Every time I get something turned in they tell me I need another form or I need another institution to fax them something! So annoying. I am going to call them again tomorrow after I fax in yet ANOTHER form which they said they didn’t have yet I already faxed it and printed a communication journal from the fax machine and it said it came through okay. Grrrrrrr.

Good news is, I think I found roommates. That makes me excited. I have to Skype them tomorrow to see if they like me. Wish me luck! I hope they like me!!!!!!!

I am still in love with the show Hannibal. It is amazing.

Today I took lamps home from the hotel. I took three. The base of them are metal, very baroque. I wish the new renovated lamps were up for grabs. The new ones are beautiful. Black and sleek. I need to buy new shades for my new lamps. I am only keeping one for a desk lamp at school then giving two to my parents. I don’t think they need lamps, but who doesn’t need high quality hotel lamps. They are super dusty, like housekeeping hasn’t dusted them since they were put in the hotel¬†6 years ago.

Speaking of the hotel, I have had an amazing week at work. Just a lot of fun, laughing, a good time. I haven’t had a week like this for a long time. It has been super awesome!

Cameron is leaving in early July which makes me sad. He is awesome and I will miss him being my security guard. He is going to be with his girl in Michigan and then go to school in the fall for psychology. I did tell him last night, if you get a general psychology degree you may want to think of specializations or graduate school since bachelor psychology degrees are very popular and the job market is very competitive. He is a very smart kid though and I am sure he has a plan. A very old soul as some hippie would say.

A stupid thing happened yesterday. My electric was turned off!! So, my bill said delinquent AFTER the 17th, and I got paid on the 18th, so I thought, not a big deal. One day after. Nope. They turned it off ON the 17th. I paid it in the early AM of the 18th and they turned it back on about 9 AM this morning, but still! I went from 10 AM-9PM in my home without electricity. Luckily I had a battery powered “torch” that also has a radio in it, so I just listened to the radio…in the dark…..then got ready to go in very dim light for work. It was also very hot because I had no air conditioning.

I am road tripping to Louisville tomorrow with the boy. Should be a good time. Then we are coming back to STL. ūüôā

I move out of my place on July 14th. I will be living with my buddy Jessie until August 20th. Then stay with my mom for about a week because she is not taking this “Storm moves to Boston” thing well. I will be back in January for a wedding, so it’s technically only a few months and we’ll see each other about as much as we do now that I live in STL. It’s¬†just I won’t¬†be able to drive home when dealing with breakups or financial difficulties. We¬†all have to grow up sometime. I have been telling¬†her, “Plus! You can visit me in awesome BOSTON!”¬†Moms will be moms.

MIRROR

I took a mirror from the hotel. It’s about 4 feet tall, 2 and a half feet wide. Thing was, I walked to work but I knew if I didn’t take it home I would forget. So I carried a gigantic mirror through downtown STL this morning.

I sent out my first e-mail to a girl asking if I could be her roommate. ūüôā

I ate some veggies today and some fast food. I don’t plan on eating anything unhealthy the rest of the day or week.

My body is so sore from my work out yesterday and my mirror adventure.

I am planning a hike with my buddy Jessie for this weekend. Should be awesome.

Last night at work I had a girl shadowing my job. They want to find a replacement for me so the transition from me leaving is smooth. Funny thing happened last night. We were delivering receipts and got to this room and they were burning INCENSE! Such a STRONG smell. So, smoking is not allowed in the hotel, because of the smell. Same goes with incense. We were scared they would set off the fire alarm so we went to google “Does incense set fire alarms off.” As soon as we put in “Does incense” the google pulled up the last search of “Does incense cover the smell of weed.” The kicker of this story, the person in the room was an employee! Which means they are going to be fired! Dummy.

I hate emotions!

I am so emotional right now! Crying every hour about my boyfriend, crying about being addicted to bad food, then eating said bad food because I am sad, then going to work and swallowing my feelings and putting on a brave face. Repeat cycle.

I did try filling out my Suffolk financial info again, but now when I go to pick a security picture it kicks me out. I tried calling the help number and got a voice mail. So annoying.

I went to my leasing office. I have 60 days to clean and pack up. I will be working hard on that.

I have decided to go on a couple mind clearing hikes within my next few days off. 6-14 mile ones. I may go several days in a row. Be prepared for many pictures of that.

At work they somehow have cut the Wi-Fi off in the back office, so the employee’s can’t use it. That means I can’t do anything on my computer at work even on extremely slow nights, super sad.

I had to kick out a room the other night for having a party. I gave the room 40 dollars back but forgot to put a note on the room so my manager thought I sold the room for 50 bucks and got mad. Then when I said I gave money back he was all like “WHY??? We don’t give money back on PARTIES?” Honestly, the room was very polite while leaving, which is usually not the case, so I gave a little money back. Usually there is a screaming person going “FUCK YOU! I am going to get a lawyer and you can’t do this and where is your manager and what’s the corporate number!!!! Yell, yell, yell.” Now my manager is mad at me, and AH!!!!!!!

I also left my phone charger at work and the last time that happened it was stolen. I asked my security guard to bring his. I hope mine is still there, I can’t really afford to buy a new one.

Overall, today has sucked and I am ready for tomorrow.

Oh, and I am on my period and the added emotional feelings suck.

Why have the guests had such funny lines lately?

I don’t really have anything new to report. My diet has not been good lately and I know this is a juicing blog and I do intend to get back to it, I just needed a break. I have been eating mostly fruit at work but I still will get the occasional pizza slice from a guest, but when I get home, I won’t lie, been living on hot pockets and beer. This work week has felt SO long. I just want to be off. Also, the boy is coming in on Saturday, so I may just be waiting for that and it is making things feel slow.

Cardinals have lost 3 games in a row. ūüė¶ Tonight it was against the Reds though, which they are a really good team and before that was the Pirates who have now taken our spot as number one. We have a terrible closing pitcher named Boggs. In one game this year he gave up 9 runs in the 9th inning. He reminds me of a pitcher we had at the beginning of our world series year named Franklin, who was AWFUL. Sad thing is, every player who plays on the world series team throughout the whole year gets a world series ring, so that guy has one and he was no good for the team. We also have a lot of hard hitting injuries. Other than that though, we have Molina who is still as amazing as ever. Holliday is really coming into his own as an outfielder. I think we have a solid team with a few glitches in the bullpen. That’s exactly how we started the year we won the world series though.

Work has been bleh. Though two guests had some really funny lines.

These two couples were checking in at 4:30 AM, which in hotel time is not the next day yet. I can get away with checking them in at 6 and having them stay the next night, but not within the 4 O’clock hour. So, I told them to come back at 6 if they wanted the next night too. One of the fellows though, he just wanted to go to bed, said “I don’t care about no second night. I’ll just go home and watch my DVR. My DVR is the shit. It’s better than this hotel. I just want my DVR.” I don’t know why, but I thought this was funny. All night I just kept say, “I just want my DVR!”

Another guest the next night, he came in with this tale. He was at the club, with some girls, and he sees his girlfriends friends there. According to him, “They weren’t even trippin though. So I thought everything was cool. They’ll tell my girl the next day and I’ll just deny it or some shit. Little did I know, they were texting my girl telling her to come to the club. So, there I am straight thuggin, thinking everything is cool.”

I reply, “I bet you weren’t thuggin when she got there.”

“I wasn’t thuggin, I was RUNNING.” He says back

That made me and Cameron laugh crazy hard. He obviously was kicked out of where he lived with his girl but he did end up bringing some girls back to his room that night. I hope it was worth it, because that sucks. I do know, I wish I had that girl’s friends to watch my back. Good friends.

That’s about all I have to update on. Still planning on the hike on Friday, the boy gets in Saturday, and depending on how his time is here I may not be updating after he gets here for a while. I will try and upload hiking photo’s from my phone though.

I knew someday I would find a dead body…

Oh my goodness. I have to tell you this story before anything else because it is SO disturbing and gross.

I have been walking to work to get a little extra exercise in, and today I was walking back and I notice something in this little grassy area I walk by. I notice a rat. Since I have been living in downtown St. Louis, I have seen 1 rat in 3 years about a year ago. So, I see the rat and go, hmm, a rat. Then I see it. In this grassy area there is a hobo shanty that is a tarp wrapped around a pine tree base. It has been there for 3 years, I’ve only seen the person who supposedly lives in it once. Today there were about 50-60 rats all around it, piling on top of each other to get in and out of it. It was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen. There were these women who were directing traffic for the Color Run close by, so I ask, Hey, do you think I should call someone? They were like, Yeah, the police. So I call the police. I tell them what I found, leave a contact number, but decide not to stick around to see what is in the tarp…I don’t want to see that… What else could it be? I mean, I guess he could have left food out and they were climbing in to get that, but I have never ever seen that tarp with rats around it like that. Ack, now every sound I hear I think, “Is that a rat?”

Anyway….

My night at work was positive. I made 34 dollars in tips which is HIGHLY unusual. Front desk staff usually makes zero dollars in tips. I think the universe was thinking, here’s 34 dollars to prepare you for what is to come with the rats. I got 10 dollars for ordering a pizza for some drunks, 10 dollars for calling a cab, and 19 just for checking someone in. The 19 dollar one confused me the most.

I also met a new Cardinal’s player, Jermaine Curtis, for about 3 minutes. Looking back on it I should have gotten his autograph for my grandma in case he turns into a big shot. In 6th grade I got a 3rd string catcher’s autograph, who was that catcher? None other than Mike Matheny who went on to have an amazing career and has now taken Tony Larussa’s spot as manager on the St. Louis Cardinals!¬†¬†

The night went smoothly though. Nutrition has been bad, bad, bad at my parents. Last night I ate an orange and¬†a slice of pizza. Not terrible but not good. I am planning a 7 mile¬†hike for Friday though. I will be juicing until Friday now. I don’t like to do these long hikes on just juice.

My 10 mile hike went well and now I own a bike! When the weather isn’t as rainy I will try and ride that quite a bit. I want to attempt a 60 mile bike ride in June one way, then 60 miles back. I am going to be training up to that. ūüôā

What was in the trashcan?

Phew, I just woke up from a very deep sleep. It was a good sleep though. STL has had some rain and storms and that always makes me sleep well. I had a dream that I was at a cigar bar, called “Bob’s burger’s and meats” and they also supplied the burgers to my favorite bar in STL Syberg’s, and the “cigar artist” was really hot and I wasn’t smoking a cigar but practicing making one. Then these three old women sit down and they’re talking about how they may be old but they still love to live and they’re now children of leisure. The cigar bar guy, I think is asking me for my number but is in fact asking me if I knew the girls across the bar, and they were two girls I went to high school with. Well they came over, and the cigar man ends up giving us tests back like we were all still in a class together. I had only gotten a 4%, this other girl got 100%, and I was so embarrassed because I wanted to go on a date with him.

Anyway….

Juicing! I messed up yesterday. I had the first two juices but then this guest came in, really awesome old man with amazing stories, ordered pizza and cheese sticks and INSISTED, would not stop offering, me and Cameron a slice. I finally broke down, after saying no about 7 times, had a slice and one cheese stick. It was sooooo good too. I weighed myself afterwards, still lost 2 pounds, but dang, messed up. I did want to binge eat after that one slice on muffins that we serve for breakfast, but I did not.  I stand by the fact that when I am off a juice fast NO ONE offers me food, when I am on one, EVERYONE offers me food. Yesterday it was two Doubletree cookies from my friend who works down the street, last night it was pizza. I mean, COME ON!

Anyway, my juices.

Juice One: Kale and apple. I just needed a quick small juice before work. It was good.

Juice Two: Spinach, little broccoli, parsley, celery, kale, romaine, an apple, and some coconut water. Call it a green blast since I use so many green ingredients.

The funny thing that happened last night is Cameron found a pornography magazine in the trash can in the lobby. It’s funny for two reasons: 1. We didn’t expect it to be there and naked people are funny. 2. Who still buys pornography magazines? Haven’t they discovered the internet yet?

The rest of the night was really uneventful. I read a lot of World War Z and am almost done with it. SUCH a good zombie novel. Read it if you haven’t and you love the zombie genre.

Hannibal the Cannibal!

First day of juicing down. Yay! I am not nearly as hungry as I was the last time I started juicing. Probably because my juices focus on veggie’s way more now. I think those fill you up and give you more energy, while the fruit based ones give you sugar highs.

Here is a breakdown of my juices.

Juice 1: 2 kale leaves, 1 orange, and 1 small cucumber. This juice was so energizing. I drank it at 9:30 PM and had great energy til 1:30 AM and my next juice. It also tasted very yummy.

Juice 2: 1 kale leaf, 2 cups spinach, 1 apple,  3 carrots, broccoli and 1 whole celery stalk. Juice was good considering I hate celery juice! I barely tasted it though. Again, energizing, filling, lasted til my last juice at 6:15 AM.

Juice 3: 1 cup spinach, 3 carrots, 1 whole celery stalk, broccoli and an orange.  Tasted good, I was walking home and finishing it. That was nice. I love walking home to decompress at the end of a hard shift, which last night was. About midway through the shift I wished I had started juicing on Sunday so I could be stress eating. But I stood strong.

Last night wouldn’t have been bad except all these drunk tearing up the lobby and one group on the 8th floor who were part of a frat and assholes. I almost kicked a room of them out. Three noise complaints on them, three! They had the gall to say “It wasn’t us.” Then the whole “I wasn’t even in my room! It was someone else.” Listen buddy, you are responsible for anyone you let in your room. I can’t help you have bad taste in friends. Ack, I didn’t kick them out though, because that would have resulted in an issue with the whole frat and they had 17 rooms, I honestly did not want to deal with that. I used this threat “Okay, you can stay, but one complaint, on ANY of the rooms, the whole Frat is leaving.” They agreed and settled down. Well, settle is relative, they all came downstairs and were really loud.

I never understood Frat and Sororities anyway. To me it seems like it is saying, If you pay your dues you will have friends. Oh yeah, and we’re going to judge you, maybe abuse you¬†before we let you join.

Then there was another group of drunkies that were there for a bridal shower. One of them took a bag of popcorn and just flung it EVERYWHERE! Dicks.

There were some drunkie’s that really just sat in one spot and drank beer for at least 8 hours, maybe more. They were down there when my security guard Cameron arrived at 7 PM and went to bed at 3 AM. They were fine except they left a mess. Bitches.

That was work. I had to yell at some college kids and clean for a couple hours.

I want to tell you guys about my TV habits, what I like and a brand new show I love.

I watch a lot of comedies, The Office, The Mindy Show, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, and Bob’s Burgers. I also love Law and Order: SVU. I don’t know why I do, I just do. Some of my favorite drama’s are Breaking Bad, Weeds, The Tudors, Once Upon a Time, Lost, and The United States of Tara.

The new show that I am absolutely in love with is Hannibal on NBC. They really have hit it out of the park with this show. I mean, the writing is great, it is shot very well, the characters are interesting, I can’t wait to see more.

The basic plot is Hannibal Lector is helping Will Grant with his mental state while Will is solving psychopathic murders. Will has Asperger’s, I think, it may be autism,¬†and such a vivid imagination¬†he can actually picture the crime as it took place and it¬†has a pretty¬†deep effect on¬†his psyche. That’s where Lector comes in, providing some psychiatric treatment to¬†Will. ¬†¬†It does take place in present day, so there are Ipads and modern crime solving technology. Hannibal is actually played by an old Bond villain, and he is awesome, Mads Mikkelsen. Will Grant is skillfully played by Hugh Dancy. Also, the way it is shot kind of reminds me of CSI, but a much darker CSI.¬† I would check it out if you like dark thrillers. Be warned, much blood and gore.

Sitting at work

I am at work right now. It’s a slow night, which is nice since the past two days have involved people yelling at me for things I couldn’t control.

I have been yelled at about when the hotels breakfast started because this woman was told 6. I had to be the one to say, breakfast starts at 7 on weekends (it also says that inside your key packet if you could read, but I only thought that part). “Well, I was told 6.” “We do have our cold food out, pastries, cereal, fruit, yogurt, bagels, toast.” “This just mean we don’t get any breakfast.” (Uh, I just listed a whole bunch of stuff. I highly doubt you¬†are making a whole breakfast of eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy everyday, you probably only eat cereal at home. Again, only thought.) “I’m sorry the hot food is not ready for you.” “This is ridiculous.” …

Another thing people may not know about, hotels oversell themselves betting on the fact some people will not show up. It is an evil practice, it’s kind of like when a airplane oversells a flight. Basically, we bet some people don’t show up so we double book a room. Sometimes our call center goes overboard like it did this weekend and oversold us 10 rooms on a weekend when there wasn’t a room left in the city. That means, 10 people did not have rooms. This is good time to also mention, if you are traveling, do your best to plan on being at the hotel to check in before 8 PM¬†after 3 PM. That way you know rooms are clean and there are still some to sell. If you try showing up before 3 PM, there may not be a clean room for you. I am pretty sure some people think hotels have unlimited amounts of rooms OR they think there are people here cleaning rooms ALL THE TIME. There aren’t. Hotels are like any other business, they employ the least amount of employee’s as they can to make the most profit. That, and I do not work at a luxury hotel. People confuse cheap hotels and luxury hotels. Our hotel is about 100 dollars a night, which is steep but we are in the downtown area of a city. Another thing to consider, the closer you are to the downtown of the city, they higher the rate. Now, a luxury hotel in our location would be around 200-300 dollars a night depending on what time of year you are traveling or if you are receiving any discount packages. Anyway, back to overselling.

We were oversold. They fixed a lot of the problem before I got in to work, which I have to give my props to my coworkers and manager. I was oversold by two, which meant two people who walked in the door I had to say, sorry, I don’t have a room for you tonight, you have to drive about a half an hour west of us. I was extremely lucky though, two rooms open up at a luxury hotel just down the street from us in our same brand. Then, though, he had to sell one, which means, okay, one person I send away, one person I send down the street. Alright, I can handle that. THEN both rooms show up, they are together, have to be in the same hotel. OKAY! So, I tell them the deal with a touch of a lie. I say 2 of our rooms had to be taken out of order due to a bathtub overflowing. Then, I send them down to our Westport location, which is a good hotel. Recently renovated, in a great area, just not downtown. They were a multi-night stay though, so, they would move back the next day to go to an expo downtown and we would comp a night here. Usually by this point the guest is screaming at me going “I BOOKED THESE ROOMS IN ADVANCE AND YOU HAVE TO HAVE A ROOM FOR ME.” Not these guys. These two guys were the coolest, most laid back travelers in the world. Really understanding, super nice, and I absolutely love guests like that. Very cool.

So, they didn’t yell at me. No. Room 204 yelled at me. A LOT. We have this room, room 204, which is by far the shittiest room in the hotel on the weekends because it is directly over the bar which has a very loud karaoke night on the weekends. These guests had to run a marathon the next day, why anyone would assign marathon runners is beyond me, my guess is the day shift does not think ahead to night shift. If I had to use 204, because I would avoid it as much as I could, I would only put sports fans, or concert goers, or Expedia/Travelocity guests in that room because these kind of guests either stay out late or don’t get internal surveys.

204 calls down. Is angry. I don’t really have anywhere to move her to, we are sold out. I could move her to a room reserved for another guest, a double bed suite, I don’t really want to because it is only 12:30 and the reserved room may show up. I do think that would be my only option though. 204 wouldn’t stop asking to talk to a manager. I don’t have a manager at night. She tells me to call him. I try not to, but she is SUPER adamant. I know my manager, we’ll call him Chris, won’t say anything different than I am saying. She has me do it anyway. Chris is pissed I called, I try explaining to him that she won’t take anything besides speaking to him. He tells me options to give them, the same ones, I call back with the same options. AGAIN she says, “LET ME SPEAK TO THE MANAGER!!! THIS IS FUCKING RIDICULOUS” So, I tell Chris what she says, he finally agrees to talk to her except she lets him talk to her calm manager. Chris doesn’t even have to speak to her.

He offers up the suite, which if my suite reservation shows up I would be put in a bad position, but whatever. Get this, she refuses to move! She does not want to move, the only thing she wants is the music to be turned off, which we can not do because the bar is a separate business. Now, I empathize, 204 is a terrible room, she is running a marathon in the morning, I feel bad for her, but she turned unreasonable! She even called the bar and the bar said “We can’t turn the music off.” We comped her night, but I just didn’t understand the not moving to get sleep. We even said, you can leave your stuff in 204 and just sleep in the suite, you don’t even have to officially pack up and move. Nope, she was having none of it. So, on one hand I feel bad for her, on the other, as an experienced traveler I know that you have to be prepared to roll with the punches. In the end, I hated her because she yelled a me so much and I was trying to fix the situation, but, I still felt kind of bad for her….

That was my awesome weekend at work. Makes you want to work in a hotel right? It evens out with being able to do things like type this entire blog while getting paid.

Nutrition, not good. I failed. I was so stressed I went immediately after work to 7-11 to buy hot pockets and candy. I can classify myself as a stress eater for sure. I will be doing a 10 day juice fast starting April 13th though! I expect to lose quite a bit.

I have a ton of errands tomorrow. I have to go pick up birth control, return a dress to Macy’s, and¬†pack for L.A. Packing will be the roughest part of the day. I plan to bring A LOT and have to fit it into 1 carry on roller bag and 1 back pack.

I am excited for California. I’ve only been once and it was not the best trip in the world. I plan on making this trip so super fun.

Here are some pictures I’ve taken recently. A little visual update.

This is me with a thinner face. Can see the weight coming off.

Walking in the Rain

Yesterday’s nutrition was another good day!

I woke up around 4 PM. I had a banana for Breakfast then juiced the rest of the day.

Juice one: 1 sweet potato, 1 orange, and 3 whole carrots. I’ve had this juice before. I always like it.

Juice two: Spinach, 2 oranges, and half a yellow squash. Pretty good juice. Refreshing, energizing.

Juice three: 4 Romaine leaves, half a yellow squash, parsley, and an apple. Another refreshing, green, energizing juice. Yum.

Work last night was difficult. If I had had access to food, I would have chowed down. Thank goodness I didn’t. There was a little kids wrestling competition in town, and most of the people were from really, eh, “country” towns. The parents decided to sit in our lobby and have themselves a party.¬† The lobby was torn up from the floor up. I mean, beer spilled everywhere, at least 30 beer bottles laying around, bottle caps all over the floor, popcorn everywhere, I swear some people are animals. You know how a bar looks at the end of the night when everyone leaves, that was our lobby times 3. Took me three hours to clean up.

Get this though, and I may be making a bigger deal out of this because I was agitated, but I got a complaint on the lobby! A room called down and said “Can you do something about all those drunks in the lobby? I don’t feel comfortable walking my family down there.” It was midnight, on a Friday, in downtown, and everyone in the lobby were paying guests. I’m sorry, but person on the phone, you should be walking your family around at midnight and they have every right to be in lobby as you do, sorry they are a little loud, but at least they aren’t being loud next to your room.

Also, I had to yell at a parent. I’m cleaning the lobby, and all of a sudden I see this little, little kid standing next to the door to the bar. I go over there and am like, “Hi, what are you up to?” “Waiting for my mom to come out of the bar.” In my head I am thinking, “What the hell?” So I sit him in a chair where I am cleaning and say “Now stay where I can see you.” When a parent finally arrives for him I go “Listen, you can NOT leave a small child, alone, in a hotel lobby. It is super dangerous. Now I know you’re not from here, but Shawn Hornbeck was from Franklin County Missouri and I know you know about him. It only takes 5 seconds for a child to disappear.” All they had to say, “Yes Mamn.” I felt silly lecturing a 40 or such year old about child care when I don’t have any children and I’m only 25, but that is just irresponsible. Both you and your wife are drunk, it’s 1 AM, and you have your kid alone in a lobby. COME ON! Stop making it easy for pedophiles! Sigh.

I will once again say,  Hotels are NOT safe. Here are some guidelines to follow when inside one

¬†1.¬† You do NOT need a background check to stay in one. The employee’s do NOT know all the people staying in the building and we are NOT watching your kids for you.

2. We also do NOT have camera’s everywhere so, chances are, once your child is abducted, they are gone.

3. Please do NOT deadbolt your doors open (seems common sense but people do it all the time). I know, you’re just going to get¬†ice, or you’re buddy will be right back, but¬†someone may push that door¬†open, beat you, rob you, rape you. The second has happened in my hotel, the third in two hotels I know of, the first in another hotel.

4. Do NOT leave your personal items unattended in the lobby, they will get stolen.

5. Do NOT leave your child unattended.

6. When in your room deadbolt AND chain lock your door.

7. If the fire alarms go off, do NOT expect a phone call with your directions. The fire alarm is your directions, telling you to leave the building.

8. Do NOT call down explaining that there is weed being smoked somewhere on your floor. If we could tell exactly what room it is coming from we would kick them out, but since we can’t, we can’t knock on every door trying to find it.

9. Do NOT let people in the front door you don’t know. That is like letting a stranger into your house to rob you.

10. Please be patient, your request is important, but so is the 30 other ones we have.

11. Tip for goodness sake, just do it asshole.

12. If there is a parking garage, park in it. If you park on the surface lot or street, your car may get broken into. If your car does get broken into, either in the garage or street, the hotel is not liable. Remove all electronics, luggage, or money from your car or people will break your window out.

13. Do not throw parties in hotels. This will just lead to you getting kicked out and no refund for you.

14. Hotels are private property which means they can refuse to rent to people, they can kick you out for whatever reason they deem fit, so if you come in smelling like weed from hot boxing and wonder why the hotel is saying “we’re sold out” even though there are no cars in the parking lot…well, you know the actual reason right?

15. Don’t ask for manager specials and when we say no try to negotiate a rate. That just pisses us off and makes us more steadfast on our decision to not adjust the rate. Also, we don’t price match. If you want that price, go to that other hotel.

16. If you don’t see a room service menu in the room, we don’t have room service! Simple as that. Or, even better, if you’re paying under 200 dollars a night, assume the place does not have room service.

17. Key cards. Keep them away from magnets or cells phones. It turns them off.

18. Key cards. You HAVE to have your I.D. to get a key card and it HAS to be the name on the room. Another hotel in our chain gave a key card to a “husband”. Little did they know, it was an Ex-husband, they were going through a divorce, and he went up and beat the shit out of her. If you want someone else to be able to get a key, put their name on the room.

19. Put clothes on when you get ice. Guest always seem to be in underwear to get ice and leave their key card in their room. Throw some pants on, even if just in case you see someone in the hallway. Still don’t get this one.

20. Wear your shoes in the lobby. People spill things, break glasses, and it’s just more hygenic if you’re wearing shoes. Socks don’t count, SHOES!

21. Never start the bath tub and lay back down for “5 more minutes” of sleep. You overflow the thing and flood two floors, that then I have to extract. That is a lot of work you just made for me.

22. Long distance calls to other countries are expensive. I’m talking to any foriegners out there right now.

23. I can not fix the wi-fi connection. You will have to call Charter and they will just put you on hold. So. Just don’t use the internet.

24. If you do use our free public computer. If you see someone waiting, finish what you are doing and move on. These computers are suppose to be for printing out boarding passes and maybe checking e-mail…not surfing facebook for 3 hours.

Those are my rules for staying in hotels. Really, the perfect traveler will be able to check in, go to their room, and be self sufficient the rest of the trip. They roll with the punches. Now, if you check in, go to the room, see the room is trashed, by all means, come down, get moved and get a comp. Or, if something is broken in your room, tell us so we can fix it. We want to make your stay pleasant, but please, return the favor, and not make our jobs hell on earth.

A couple good pieces of news my manager told me today. One, our hotel is going smoke free which this will cut down on party rooms and I won’t get a headache on that floor when I deliver receipts. Two, the smelly man from Holland is getting kicked out! Monday is his last night. My manager finally had to deal with him, which leads him to being asked to leave. ūüôā Very exciting, because that man was ANNOYING.

So, that was work, and some rules for the hotel.

After I got off work, I slept, woke up, ate an egg, spinach, and mustard sandwich, then went for about a 2 mile walk with my buddy Jessie, IN THE RAIN. She wants to do a juice fast, 10 days she says. She has never done one. I told her to start eating raw or juicing once or twice a day to get ready for it. She is already a size 8 and super healthy, so I am surprised she wants to fast. She will be in Hawaii for a month with the navy, so, she wants to be bikini ready she says. I think her body is top notch, but hey, I’m all for her cleansing and giving her body a huge shock of nutrients.

Happy juicing and have an awesome day!

4th weigh in

I’ve made a decision with juicing. I will just 1 or 2 meals a day and eat a clean meal, once or twice a day. It’s really expensive buying so much produce, so I want to cut that with veggie meals I make. Well, not all veggie’s, I bought a huge thing of oatmeal that has a million servings in it for 3 dollars! Also got a carton of eggs. I still bought a good amount of produce though, so I can keep up with juicing some meals.

So what I had yesterday.

Juice 1: Cabbage, carrot, and ginger. This juice was NOT good. Too much cabbage added!

Then I had an egg, mustard, and spinach sandwich. It was very good.

Juice 2: Spinach, half a cucumber, and a pear. Liked this juice a lot. Refreshing.

Juice 3: 4 romaine leaves, an apple, and half a cucumber. Again refreshing. Provided a nice boost of energy.

I weighed myself again last night, down 4 more pounds! Total is at 16 right now. 34 more to lose to get to 50. I am happy with that loss. If I could keep at about  4 pounds a week, I would be stoked.

I did not get far one cleaning, opting to grocery shop instead. Work last night was really, really, busy for the first hour and¬†a half. Another kids conference! Last weekend it was church kids, the weekend before volleyball girls, this weekend wrestling kids. I wouldn’t mind, since all of them are in bed by midnight (usually) but they tear the lobby up and I’m responsible for cleaning it before our breakfast ladies go up. It’s been taking 2 or 3 hours, or in the case of the church kids 5, to clean the lobby! That’s a lot of lifting heavy trash bags, wiping down tables, and with these parents, a lot of beer bottles? Yeah, trash can, 2 feet away from them, left 10 empty beer bottles on the table like they were in a fucking restaurant. I wish we were like other hotels that just had couches in their lobby and NOT tables conducive to drinking and pretending you’re in a dimly lit restaurant (yes we turn off the lights even to signify this isn’t the place for you).

Had a couple guys check in late last night. One had really beautiful green eyes, big gorgeous, leaves just coming out in spring eyes. We talked about a bunch of stuff until I said those magic words “Well, my boyfriend..” and immediately, “Man, we have to get to bed. Nice talking to you!”¬†

I also had a neat conversation with a really old black man from Chicago who I want to be my grandfather. He was in town for a funeral, his second in a week. He started crying when describing the deceased. We talked about food, cities we’ve been too, dunkin donuts. Super nice guy.
